Support for more video formats?

Hi abramsh,

Do you have any plans to implement transcoding for non-natively supported video formats yet? There have been a number of apps that can play other types of video files for some time now, and some of your UPNP-enabled competitors have added the feature (e.g. Airplayer).

I don't think I'd switch to another media player - I still think you did UPNP support first and best - but it would be nice to know if you have any plans to add transcoding for the faster iOS devices (3GS+).

If there becomes a reasonable way to do this legally for the more popular formats, we'll consider it. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm fairly certain that AirPlayer isn't legally allowed to be distributed as-is since it uses FFMpeg and that's a combination of GPL and LGPL licensed software and I don't see the source code for AirPlayer publicly available anywhere.

Fair enough! I didn't realise AirPlayer were being a bit naughty using ffmpeg.
