Android Port

I love this on my iPod touch, and there is nothing like it for Android. Would be wonderful to see it ported.

I've considered it a few times, but the Android market is still small and it would be more of a complete re-write than a simple "port". I haven't ruled it out, but I have no current plans or estimated date.

i only registered to tell you: please rewrite for android! i know many guys who would love it. there is only one approach in the android market (andromote from germany), which is extremely buggy. and afaik: "android" is selling more phones today, than apple does.

i would pay huge ammounts of money for it!

keep on goin!

I'll add my name to the list of Android + Plugplayer fans!!

Desperate to get out of the apple walled garden, but want to take my fav apps with me - inc plugplayer.

I recently joined the Android owners (still also have/use my iTouch though) and would very much like to see this app on Android (which has a serious lack of good UPnP/DLNA apps). So I support the call for android support of PP.

As of this moment, there is still appears to be no usable DLNA player for Android. AndroMote -can- play media on the local player, but it's very clunky and only supports servers that it can find on the local network (so no playing of media off the NAS at home over 3G, like with PlugPlayer).

If anyone knows of a player that -does- work for Android, please do tell. Otherwise, I can only hope that some developer will pick up the gauntlet. Considering that Android Market has a refund policy, there is no need for a trial version. I'd pay up to $10 for a proper player like PlugPlayer.

Greetings,
Grismar.

I appreciate the support for the Android platform. Keep it coming and perhaps it will eventually make it to the top of my list.

Here's some rambling on the subject from me:

I have an Iphone only for the sake of plugplayer. I am not using it as a phone, other then a complement sometimes when i need internet and mail on travel.

I am absolutely certain that Android will be taking over the buisiness end of things sooner or later. Although i think iphone is great, it has some devastaing flaws:

1 Terrible sound quality (microphone sending/DAconverting/GSMcodec wise. Sound at the reciving end gets very bad. Which the happy camping iphone user is mostly totally unaware of.)

2 The lack of a physical keyboard. Why, oh why cant apple release an iphone being exactly the same as the current one, but having a slideout keyboard?

3 The lack of FM radio.

With the above fixed, the iphone would be the ultimate phone. The likelyness that it ever will happen is miniscule though, so i keep waiting for SonyEricsson, Nokia, HTC or any of the other players to bring forth a high end Andriod with a proper keyboard.

For instance, the recent SonyEricsson Vivaz Pro would have been a good candidate, if not for the lowres screen and Symbian.

I use PlugPlayer on my iPod Touch, which is great with Wi-Fi!

But...

I'm due for a phone upgrade w/ Verizon, and I'm strongly considering going with an Android-enabled device w/ 3G capabilities. But honestly, if I couldn't use that 3G connection to stream my home media remotely, I'm not sure that it would be worth the $$$.

If PlugPlayer were ported to Android, I'd be in like Flynn.
